I am pleased to inform you that the School of Industrial Engineering has recommended to the Graduate School that your application for admission to our graduate program be approved for the Fall 2009 session. Formal notification of admission will come to you shortly from the Graduate School. We will appreciate receiving a decision concerning your acceptance from you upon your receiving the admission notification from the Graduate School. Your early response will help us to maintain reasonable class size. If we do not hear from you by April 15, 2009, we will assume that you are no longer interested in accepting the admission.
Classes for the Fall 2009 session begin on August 24, 2009. All new graduate students are required to report to Sandy upon arriving campus one week before the start of classes for attending a mandatory orientation session. Should you not be aware, the School of IE is expected to be in a growth phase over the next 3 - 5 year time frame with significant new addition of faculty and graduate research students, and evolution of new programs in areas such as Health Care Engineering, Service Sector Engineering,
Micro/Meso/Nano Manufacturing, Large-scale Complex Systems and IT-tools for enabling systems and technologies. In addition, the School is participating aggressively in a variety of new initiatives in Purdue’s Discovery Park that is composed of six large Inter-Disciplinary Centers. These Centers are focused on areas such as Nanotechnology, Advanced Manufacturing, Biosciences and Technology, Entrepreneurship and e-Enterprise, and Energy. Details about Discovery Park can be found on Purdue’s website http://web.e-). As a graduate student you will have a variety of exciting opportunities to be involved in these initiatives and programs. We are optimistic that these initiatives will further enhance the high stature of our School.
