新托福口语实例赏析

口语部分常见问题:
  (1) 句子表达存在一些基本的语法错误,这样会直接影响最后的得分。
  (2) 词汇量有限,直接关系到语言表达的多样性和丰富性。
  疑问:
  (1) 如果针对题目实在没有什么可说的,扩展不开,这样情况下该怎么办?
  (2) 综合口语部分中,尤其是task6,涉及到专有名词定义,该如何正确把握?
  实例1
  Choose a place you go to often that is important to you and explain why it is important. Please include specific details in your explanation.
  My university is important for me, and I often go to there. First, I canlearnknowledge in my university. I canlearnmathematics and other subjects. Second, I cando many physics exercise. I can play football, basketball with my classmates. Finally, the environment in my university is perfect.Many trees and grass is in the campus. I feel relax when I go to the university. As a result, I go to my university often, because it is important for me.
   解析
  (1)W: Second, I can do many physics exercise.
  R: Second, I can do many physical exercises.
  说明:表示做运动的固定短语搭配:Do physical exercise= do physics. However, do physics exercise这种表达方式是不合适的。
  (2)W: Many trees and grass is in the campus.
  R: The trees are clustered here and there with grass on/ in the campus.
  说明:这里需要说明的一点是实例中的表达方法并没有问题,只是欠缺生动,我们说口语陈述时并不要求象写作一样要写长难句,但是如果你整段口语都是使用简单句那也不太好,同样会影响你的得分。
  (3)总评:可以看出这位托友对陈述内容的整体架构把握得还是很有层次和条理地,这要归功与过渡词(transitions or signal words)的正确使用,希望大家可以借鉴这一点;但是the weak point是陈述中learn的重复使用,如果拿acquire/ obtain和其替换使用,那样就会使表达丰富多彩一些。
  实例2
  Some college students choose to take courses in a variety of subject areas in order to get a broad education. Others choose to focus on a single subject area in order to have a deeper understanding of that area. Which approach to course selection do you think is better for students and why?
  I think thattakecourse in a variety of area is better for students. First, a variety of subjects can help students tobroaden views and open their minds. Students can take advantage in the future. Second, students can’t keep high motivation on a single subject. A variety of subject areas can make students have an effective understanding of knowledge. Thus I think it is better for students to take course in a variety of subject areas.
  解析
  (1)W: I think thattakecourses in a variety of area is better for students.
  R: I think that to take courses/ taking courses in a variety of subject areas is better for students.
  (2)W: Students can take advantage in the future.
  R: The studies on various subjects benefit them in the future.
  (3)总评:其实这位托友对这篇陈述组织地还是很好的,此外还有一个亮点就是当中使用了很多不错的固定短语,broaden views, open minds, keep high motivation on, have an effective understanding等等使表达显得很生动,让人感觉其词汇储备很扎实!

 

疑问解答1
  从上面的两篇实例中其实不难看出它们有一个共同点:那就是开头和结尾处的重复表达,这说明什么呢?说明作者已经“山穷水尽”了,无法在展开了,但是规定时间还没有到所以这样做!遇到这种情况有什么小窍门:一,建议适当地减慢语速,但是要发音清晰,当然也不能慢得太夸张!二,就像这两个例题一样,在结尾处再点题一下,但是建议稍微换个句式表达,不要照搬首句!以上所说得是在实在没有办法的情况下不得以而为之的,广大托友最好还是扎扎实实地从基础开始练习方为上策!
  实例3
  There are two definitions of money. First, the narrow definition of money, it should be legal tender of government. For example, inUSA, a tax driver must receive bills, paper, and coins as payment. Second, the broad definition of money should be anything that people use to purchase goods and services. People can exchange coins, bills with other goods. In some broad systems, people can treat vegetables as money to purchase some food and other things.
  解析
  总评:从上述陈述中我们可以看出这位托友对lecture中的main information都作了很好的记录,并且对money的狭义和广义概念都作了较完整的定义,也包括狭义概念包含的细节部分的coins, bills, paper,此外还使用了例证,这些都是不错的加分点!
  疑问解答2
  The definition from the speaker: The narrow definition of money should be legal tender of government. The broad definition of money should be anything that people use to purchase goods and services.
  The definition from the lecture: The narrow definition of money might be legal tender whatever is in the society and whatever has to be suspected as a payment. The broad definition of money is anything people can use to purchase with.
  就拿这道题来说,它涉及了对money的狭义概念和广义概念的定义,遇到这种要求对专有名词定义的情况我们该怎么办呢?通常情况下大家会进入一个误区:强迫自己原封不动地记录听力材料中的定义,但是实际上这是你自己为难自己的一种做法,譬如,上面的两个定义,我们不难看出作者根据自己的理解简化了货币的概念,尤其是狭义的定义,但是并没有影响到他的意思表达。所以我们提倡这种做法,我衷心地希望大家可以适当借鉴一下!
